MVA with Negative PI & Vehicle Extrication at SCFA

On May 11, 2011 while gearing up for extrication training at the SCFA, Great River FD was activated for a MVA involving two vehicles at the corner of River Road and Woodhollow Road. Memorial Day Parade

Join us as we celebrate Memorial Day on Sunday, May 24, 2009.  The parade steps off at 11am at the Great River Fire House, to Memorial Park on Great River Road.  Stop by for the continuing tradition of hot dogs and beverages after the parade!

Fire Island Pines Blaze

At 10:36 pm on May 20th, the Great River Fire Department was requested to the scene of a working structure fire involving two homes on the Fire Island Pines. Ice Rescue Training

You Great River Fire Department spent the morning on ice.  Members headed out on the ice at the boat ramp at Heckscher State Park to brush up on their ice rescue skills. With the assistance of firefighters on land, Firefighters Gormley and Llobell raced to rescue the “victim” approximately 40 yards out in the marina. [...]


Vehicle Fire 1/17/09

Great River was activated at 4:03pm on 1-17-09 for a vehicle fire adjacent to field 10 in Heckscher State Park. 3-9-94 confirmed fully involved. The crew of first due engine 3-9-2 under command of 3-9-31 and direction of 3-9-50 immediately pulled 1 3/4″ jump line and extinguished the blaze within minutes. Other apparatus on scene [...]
